Facelift Surgery in Ashburn and Loudoun

Cosmetic Facelift Plastic Surgery and Rejuvenating Skin Care for Northern Virginia, including Ashburn, Leesburg, Reston, Loudoun and Fairfax areas.

Facial rejuvenation or cosmetic facelift surgery, is one of the most commonly performed cosmetic surgery procedures in the world of aesthetic cosmetic plastic surgery. I would like to thank my patients for allowing me to display their results. Facelift surgery has served as an aide to restoring a youthful appearance for centuries. Facelift cosmetic surgery is recognized worldwide by nearly all civilized cultures as a tool to turn back the hands of time and delay the appearance of aging. Plastic surgeons have been instrumental in the different types of cosmetic surgery of the face. Facelift cosmetic surgery can help change the appearance of a person, who wants their outer look to match the way they feel inside. When facial rejuvenation (facelift) is approached at all levels, dramatic results can occur. 'Attention to the details' improves the chances that a quality, long lasting result will occur. Specifically addressing a person's skin care, detrimental behaviors (i.e. sun exposure, tobacco smoke) and their facial symmetry helps to influence the overall treatment plan and the final result. Each person's care is customized to achieve his or her goals.

Facelift or rhytidectomy is a cosmetic surgery procedure performed by plastic surgeons to improve visible signs of aging on the face and neck. As individuals age, the skin and muscles of the face region begin to lose tone and facial volume. The facelift cannot stop the process of aging. The facelift can improve the most visible signs of aging by tightening deeper structures, re-draping the skin of face and neck, and removing or replacing selected areas of fat. A facelift can be performed alone, or in conjunction with other procedures, such as a browlift, liposuction, eyelid surgery, or nasal surgery.

A new neck lift surgery procedure with minimal incisions is called the iGuide. Dr Michael J. Brown is the first plastic surgeon in Virginia, Maryland and Washington, DC to offer and perform this cosmetic surgery.

Facelift cosmetic surgery is individualized by the plastic surgeon for each patient. The best candidates for facelift cosmetic surgery have a face and neck line has begun to sag, but whose skin has elasticity and whose bony structure is well defined. If you are searching for facial cosmetic plastic surgery in Northern Virginia, Maryland or Washington, DC, plastic surgeon, Dr. Michael J. Brown is an excellent surgeon to have this procedure from. His patients come from Loudoun, Fairfax, Reston, Herndon, Leesburg, Dulles, Ashburn, Middleburg, Great Falls, Potomac Falls, Alexandria, Vienna, Falls Church, Chevy Chase, Bethesda, Potomac, Richmond,Washington, DC to name a few areas. He also has patients travel from all over the US for his expertise and dramatic results.

Alternative treatments instead of cosmetic surgery

Alternative forms of management consist of not treating the laxness in the face and neck region with a facelift (rhytidectomy) and grow old ´gracefully´. Improvement of skin laxity, skin wrinkles and fatty deposits may be attempted by other treatments or cosmetic surgery such as chemical face peels or liposuction or fat injection for additional volume. Risks and potential complications are associated with alternative forms of treatment as well. The newest laser facelifts , like Titan or Fraxel, have delayed the need for facial rejuvenation cosmetic surgery by tightening the deeper skin layers and improving the appearence of the skin.

Risks of facelift cosmetic surgery

Every cosmetic surgery procedure involves a certain amount of risk and it is important that you understand the risks involved with facelift surgery(rhytidectomy). An individual's choice to undergo a cosmetic surgery procedure by a plastic surgeon is based on the comparison of the risk to potential benefit. Although the great majority of patients do not experience the following complications with the surgery, a candidate for cosmetic surgery should review each of them and go over them with the plastic surgeon if they have any questions, to make sure that they understand the risks, potential complications, and consequences of facelift surgery(rhytidectomy).

Bleeding and face lift cosmetic plastic surgery - It is possible, though unusual, that you may have problems with bleeding during or after cosmetic surgery. Should post-operative bleeding occur, it may require emergency treatment to drain accumulated blood or blood transfusion. Do not take any aspirin or anti-inflammatory medications for ten days before surgery, as this contributes to a greater risk of bleeding. Hypertension (high blood pressure) that is not under good medical control may cause bleeding during or after cosmetic surgery. Accumulations of blood under the skin may delay healing and cause scarring. It may be necessary for the plastic to perform another surgery to drain the blood.

Infection and face lift cosmetic plastic surgery- Infection is unusual after this type of cosmetic surgery. Should an infection occur, additional treatment including antibiotics or cosmetic surgery may be necessary.

Scarring and face lift cosmetic plastic surgery- Although good wound healing after a cosmetic surgery procedure is expected, abnormal scars may occur within the skin and deeper tissues. Scars may be unattractive and of different color than the surrounding skin. There is the possibility of visible marks from sutures. Additional treatments or surgery may be needed to treat scarring.

Damage to deeper structures and face lift cosmetic plastic surgery- Deeper structures such as blood vessels, muscles, and particularly nerves may be damaged during the course of cosmetic surgery. The potential for this to occur varies with the type of facelift procedure performed. Injury to deeper structures may be temporary or permanent.

Asymmetry and face lift cosmetic plastic surgery- The human face is normally asymmetrical. There can be a variation from one side to the other in the results obtained from a facelift surgery procedure.

Surgical anesthesia and face lift cosmetic plastic surgery- Both local and general anesthesia involve risk. There is the possibility of complications, injury, and even death from all forms of cosmetic surgery anesthesia or sedation.

Nerve injury and face lift cosmetic plastic surgery- Motor and sensory nerves may be injured during a facelift surgery operation. Weakness or loss of facial movements may occur after facelift cosmetic surgery. Nerve injuries may cause temporary or permanent loss of facial movements and feeling. Such injuries may improve over time. Injury to sensory nerves of the face, neck and ear regions may cause temporary or more rarely, permanent numbness. Painful nerve scarring is very rare.

Chronic pain and face lift cosmetic plastic surgery- Chronic pain is a very rare complication after a facelift surgery.

Skin disorders/skin cancer and face lift cosmetic plastic surgery- A facelift is a cosmetic surgery procedure for the tightening of skin and deeper structures of the face. Skin disorders and skin cancer may occur independently of a facelift.

Unsatisfactory result and face lift cosmetic plastic surgery- There is the possibility of a poor result from the facelift cosmetic surgery. This would include risks such as unacceptable visible deformities, loss of facial movement, wound disruption, and loss of sensation. You may be disappointed with the results of surgery. Infrequently, it is necessary to perform additional cosmetic surgery to improve the plastic surgery result.

Allergic reactions and face lift cosmetic plastic surgery- In rare cases, local allergies to tape, suture material, or topical preparations have been reported. Systemic reactions which are more serious may occur to drugs used during cosmetic surgery and prescription medicines. Allergic reactions may require additional treatment.

Hair loss and face lift cosmetic plastic surgery- Hair loss may occur in areas of the face where the skin was elevated during cosmetic surgery by the plastic surgeon. The occurrence of hair loss after surgery is not predictable.

Delayed healing and face lift cosmetic plastic surgery - Wound disruption or delayed wound healing after cosmetic surgery is possible. Some areas of the face may not heal normally or may take a long time to heal. Areas of skin may die after plastic surgery. Frequent dressing changes or further surgery may be required to remove the non-healed tissue.

Smokers have a greater risk of skin loss and wound healing complications after plastic surgery.

Long term effects and face lift cosmetic plastic surgery- Subsequent alterations in facial appearance may occur as the result of aging, weight loss or gain, sun exposure, or other circumstances not related to facelift cosmetic surgery. Facelift cosmetic surgery done by a plastic surgeon does not arrest the aging process or produce permanent tightening of the face and neck. Future cosmetic surgery or other treatments may be necessary to maintain the results of a facelift surgery operation.

Prior to any plastic surgery procedure, it is imperative that you have read and understand the consent forms required for a plastic cosmetic surgery procedure.
