Rhinoplasty or nose reshaping cosmetic surgery
The nose can be one of the strongest and character assigning features of a person's face. Throughout time, people have sought to change its appearance through nasal surgery or rhinoplasty. Some cultures are associated with nasal shapes or contours. Sometimes these rhinoplasty changes can be subtle and at other times, these rhinoplasty changes can be dramatic. The nose changes over a person's lifetime. Some people do not notice or mind their nose at a young age and may only seek a 'nose job' when they notice something has changed with their nose. Most people who are sensitive about their nose will notice it at an early age. They typically will try to accept their nose shape but may ultimately seek a contour correction because they are concerned about their appearence with their nose. Often a person will really dislike their nose in photographs. Or they may not like their nose on the side view or profile view. Some people are sensitive about their nose when they smile for photographs. Some people do not like their nose tip, others do not like their nose bump. Some people will not like the nose width at the bridge and others will not like the nose width at the tip or nostrils. Often a person can come for a plastic surgery consultation and not like a few things about their nose, some like nothing about their nose and others may only want a subtle correction of a very particular component to their nose. So when it comes to cosmetic plastic surgery for the nose, it is a very personal choice as to what needs to be corrected or modified.
An important consideration to remember about rhinoplasty plastic surgery is that when one part of the nose is adjusted, it usually influences another part of the nose. So if the lower part of the nose is over adjusted, then the upper part of the nose looks too big. If the nose bridge or bones are too wide and they are narrowed, then the nose tip may look too large. So it is very important to keep the nose in balance and to assure that the rhinoplasty plastic surgery maintains the nose harmony with respect to the nose itself and with the rest of the face.
Rhinoplasty plastic surgery can be peformed through small incisions from within the nostrils. This is called a closed rhinoplasty plastic surgery. A rhinoplasty cosmetic surgery can also be performed using a slightly larger incision, which leaves a scar on the underside of the nose. This rhinplasty technique is called an open rhinoplasty plastic surgery. When the open rhinoplasty is used more nose tip work can be done with better visibility and also the nose bump or dorsum can be worked on as well. Both closed rhinoplasty and open rhinoplasty are excellent choices for cosmetic plastic surgery on the nose.
The preceding and following videos demonstrate open rhinoplasty plastic surgery. You can notice how much easier it is to see what is going on during the plastic surgery.
