Face lift Surgery

Facial rejuvenation is also known as cosmetic face lift surgery. It is indicated for facial aging. It is one of the most commonly performed aesthetic plastic surgeries. Before we begin, I would like to thank my patients for allowing me to show their results in order to help inform patients.

A face lift (or ‘rhytidectomy’) is a cosmetic surgery used to combat signs of aging on the face. It is best performed by a board certified plastic surgeon. As individuals age, the skin and muscles of the face begin to lose tone and shape. A facelift cannot stop the process of aging. A face lift can improve the most visible signs of aging. It does so by:

  • tightening facial structures
  • reshaping the skin of face and neck
  • removing or replacing selected areas of fat

The facelift is recognized by nearly all civilized cultures. It serves as a tool to turn back the hands of time. It can also delay the look of aging. Face lifts can help a person who wants their outer look to match the way they feel inside. When used with skin improvement, a patient will achieve a more youthful look. A face lift can be performed alone or in tandem with other procedures such as:

  • brow lift
  • neck lift
  • liposuction
  • eyelid surgery
  • nasal surgery

Each person’s care is customized to achieve his or her goals. There are many facets to face lifts. They can be very detailed. Dr. Brown will spend time to customize a surgery plan. His plan is to fulfill your goals. It is important to go over plans for the face lift, as well as all of its potential risks, before surgery. Click to learn in detail about face lift risks.

Forehead or brow lift surgery

The forehead is one of the key parts of the body when looking for signs of aging. The forehead and overall brow position are often overlooked when patients prepare plans for face lifts. Yet Leonardo Da Vinci, gave it as much importance as the other two thirds of the face. If patients fail to think about the brow when they consider a face lift, they are often left to wear bangs. Often, the forehead and eyebrows can be rejuvenated with non-surgical efforts. The efforts include the use of Botox© Cosmetic or other injections, such as Dysport, Restylane, or Juvederm. The forehead and brows can also be adjusted with dedicated skin care and skin resurfacing. Sometimes a plastic surgery is part of the solution.

Cosmetic surgery to the brow and forehead is common. Thanks to the endoscope, a plastic surgeon can improve the forehead and brow with small incisions. This way also has little down time. This method does call for additional treatments to maintain the effects of the surgery. Click to learn about the risks of brow lift surgery.

Neck lift cosmetic surgery

A person’s neck can be an area of concern at any age. An unsightly neck can significantly affect how clothes are worn. The neck can also be the first area a person see aging in. There are many reasons the neck can look too full or too loose, these include:

  • genetics
  • fat storage
  • excess skin
  • recent weight loss
  • generalized aging

Depending on the shape of a patient’s neck, it can respond well to a few options. The method used depends upon what a patient’s concerns are, and their underlying problems are. When the neck is only minorly involved, for instance, liposuction surgery alone may be successful in improving the contour of the skin. If the neck muscles are lose, then they should be tightened. This means an incision under the chin. From this incision an open neck lift can be done. Dr. Michael J. Brown was the first plastic surgeon in Virginia to introduce a scarless suspension neck lift using the iGuide plastic surgery system. He will use this on the patients that would benefit from it. Like any surgery, neck lifts have risks. Those risks are similar to the face lift.

Nose reshaping cosmetic surgery (Rhinoplasty)

The nose can be one of the strongest features of a person’s face. People seek to change their appearance through nasal surgery. This is also known as rhinoplasty. Sometimes these changes can be subtle. They can also be dramatic. Dr. Brown has done extensive rhinoplasty work. When there is an airway or breathing problem, insurance will pay for the nasal surgery. Click to learn more about Rhinoplasty and videos about nose surgery.

Most people are sensitive about the characteristics of their nose. To preserve their privacy, the surgery results displayed on our page are side-only views. Please ask to see additional before and after results of rhinoplasty during your consultation.

Lip Augmentation

Lip fullness is seen as a sign of beauty. Lip enhancement and lip augmentation can be done two ways. It can be non-surgical or surgical. The non-surgical techniques for lip augmentation tend to last less long. They do offer an easier recovery. Injectable fillers like Restylane, and Juvederm can be done quickly. They provide a nice, simple lip enhancement.

The cosmetic surgery for lip augmentation involves options that are more permanent. Fat injection, other body tissues, or synthesized materials, tend to have a longer lasting effect. The can be dramatic but do take longer to recover from. More swelling and bruising can also tend to result from these options. Some do require more than one treatment. Whichever technique is utilized, the result can be pleasing. They can offer significant lip fullness.

Protruding Ear Correction (Otoplasty)

The surgical correction for protruding ears is known as Otoplasty. It is a straightforward, safe operation. Most patients who have had it are very pleased. The patient must wear a headband for a few weeks. This surgery should not be performed on a child until he or she is at least seven years of age. By this age that the ear has grown to its adult size. The children tolerate this surgery well. Otoplasty does have risks that are specific to its surgery.
