Neck-lift cosmetic surgery using iGuide
Loose or sagging skin under the chin and jaw can make people look older. Even without the need for a full face and neck lift, some tightening of the neck can turn this around.
This is where the iGuide neck lift can be a great option. It is not as invasive as other options. It often only requires sedation or local anesthesia. The recovery time is fast as well. It gives results that match those of traditional, invasive neck lifts, and the results can be seen right away.
How does it work?
The iGuide neck lift uses a new technique to lift the loose skin under the chin and jaw. It does not require an incision. Instead, a suture support system is placed through a series of needle punctures. (See images below). Instead of cutting and moving the muscles, plastic surgeon Dr. Michael J. Brown weaves the suture under the jaw line. This uses one single thread. It improves the neck and jaw line right away. In short, you get all the benefits of neck rejuvenation surgery. It can be used alone or along with a face lift or liposuction.
The iGuide has FDA clearance for soft tissue movement and the lifting of sub-dermis and the muscle below. It can also be used to lift the brow with the same system and few incisions.
What is recovery like?
Recovery times with iGuide neck lift are short. It also reduces side effects like swelling, bruising and the risk of nerve and muscle damage. In fact, there is only minimal swelling, bruising, and scarring, and this often is a result of liposuction added to the iGuide process.
Generally, patients are able to go back to work in a few days. In the meantime, a neck band is used for three days to aid in healing, especially if liposuction was done. No other down time is needed. Patients can resume exercise in a week or two. Dr. Brown will be able to give you a better understanding of how short your recovery time will be.
You can see below a set of before and after photos. These photos are from the iGuide website. They were taken only 24 hours after the surgery. (This set of pictures is not Dr. Brown’s patient.)
There are a few adverse effects linked to the use of the iGuide. These include:
- Problems with the would breaking open
- Minimal inflammatory tissue reaction
- Nerve injury
- Temporary pain at the wound site
- Neck contour irregularities
